The Dollhouse Agogo bar Bangkok made its debut in the vibrant Soi Cowboy scene back in February 2002. But before that, it had a stint in the ill-fated Clinton Plaza just a stone's throw away. The Clinton Plaza chapter came to an end in November 2002, but by then, the Dollhouse had already set its roots in Soi Cowboy. The owners, Darel and "Big Andy," made a smart move that proved to be ahead of the game.

Being the first large, modern-style gogo bar in the area, the Dollhouse paved the way for what Soi Cowboy has become today. Some say that if it weren't for Darel and Andy's choice to settle in Soi Cowboy, it might have remained a sleepy street with a few small bars. But they raised the iconic Dollhouse sign, the first of its kind in the Soi, soon to be followed and imitated by Suzie Wong and later Shark. You could argue that this single action sparked the birth of the neon strip that we now know and love.

Since its inception, the Dollhouse has enjoyed tremendous success, with only Baccara and perhaps Crazy House rivaling its popularity today. It has become a favorite among Western expats, unlike Baccara, which tends to attract more Japanese and Korean visitors. The bar's "no hassle" policy is the main reason for its enduring popularity with Westerners, especially expats. This policy has been in place since day one and continues to be upheld. Of course, the girls still need to earn a living, so they may politely ask for a drink, but they are instructed to do so only after spending some quality time with the customer.
