How SwanPass Lists and Checks Venues

This page explains where the venue information on SwanPass comes from, what we check, what the badges mean, how reviews work and how venues are ordered in lists. A listing is not an inspection or an endorsement: prices, hours and staff change, so confirm the details with the venue before you go.

Where listings come from

Venues are added by the SwanPass team or by the people who run them.

  • New venues from owners are reviewed before they go live. An owner can only send a new venue for review once it has a name, category, city, address, map pin, an About text of at least 200 characters, a cover photo and at least 4 more photos, opening hours, a menu with prices, and a phone, LINE or WhatsApp contact. Our team then publishes it or sends it back with a note saying what to change.
  • Owners’ edits to a live venue are held for approval. When an owner changes a published listing, the change waits in our review queue and goes live only after our team approves it.
  • Owners can’t set their own badges or numbers. Featured, Verified and New, the star rating, review counts and view counts can only be changed by SwanPass staff.
  • Claiming a listing. If you run a venue that is already listed, you can claim it and send documents. Our team approves the claim, asks for more information, or rejects it. Once approved, you manage the listing, and your edits follow the approval step above.

Prices, hours and “open now”

  • Prices come from the menu on the listing. The “from” price is the lowest menu price. To compare prices across countries we convert it to Thai baht at fixed rates, so treat it as a guide.
  • “Open now” is worked out from the listed opening hours in the venue’s local time zone. If a venue has no hours listed, we don’t say whether it is open.

What the badges mean

  • ★ Featured is paid placement. Featured venues are paying partners and are shown first in lists.
  • ✓ Verified is also a paid plan, switched on by SwanPass staff only. Where we have recorded when we last checked the listing, the badge on the venue page shows that date.
  • A venue is never Featured and Verified at the same time; Featured takes priority.
  • New marks a venue our team has flagged as recently added.
  • A badge never changes a venue’s reviews or star rating.
  • “Visited” is never claimed. SwanPass does not record in-person visits today, so no page says our team visited or tested a venue. If we start recording visits, a venue will only be described as visited when a team member has actually been there, with the date.

How venues are ordered

  • Lists show Featured venues first, then Verified venues, then every other venue. A venue without a badge is never shown above one with a badge, whatever its rating.
  • The order of Featured venues rotates every day, so each paying venue gets time at the top.
  • Inside each group, venues are sorted by average rating, then number of reviews. When you choose a sort (rating, most reviews, newest or price), it reorders venues inside each group; the groups stay in the same order.
  • “Just added” rows ignore badges and show the newest venues first.

How reviews work

  • Reviews on SwanPass are written by signed-in members: one review per member per venue, which they can edit later. Venue owners can’t review their own venue, and only live venues can be reviewed.
  • Each review needs a star rating from 1 to 5, a title and some text, and can include up to 5 photos. HTML is stripped from reviews, and the reviewer’s name is shown as initials.
  • Some reviews were imported from Google Maps rather than written on SwanPass. A venue’s star rating is the average of all its reviews.
  • Moderation. Reviews appear when posted. Our team checks them afterwards: reviews with links, phone numbers or chat IDs, text copied from another review, an email address from a blocked domain, or 5 or more reviews from one account in one day are flagged for us to look at. Reviews that break the community guidelines are deleted.
  • Members can vote a review helpful or not, one vote per member per review.

Service pages

Pages for a type of service, such as nuru massage, list the live venues our team has tagged with that service. Pages built on an existing category, such as soapy massage, list the venues in that category. A service page only exists when at least one live venue belongs to it, and the same badge ranking applies. Search engines are only asked to index a service, area or station page once it lists at least three venues and carries its own written guide; the guides describe patterns in the listings and reviews, not visits.

Report wrong or outdated information

Every venue page has a “Report outdated info” link. You can also use the report form directly, or contact us on LINE @swanpass or at [email protected]. Reports are emailed to our team to check. If you run the venue, claim the listing to keep it up to date yourself.
