NOT A 5-STAR HOTEL. DON'T BE FOOLED! WE CHECKED OUT ON THE CHECK IN DAY!
When checking into the hotel, whilst the lobby looked very nice, the staff had very poor English and there was a not so discreet brothel by the reception. This is "the bachelor - male privilege", also observed 'ladies' walking in and out of there.
The room was very small for a "delux" room. King size bed which was nice but other than that, the room was in a state if disrepair even the staff said it was newly renovated. There were lots of stains in the countertop and the bathroom sink was dirty. There was water on the bathroom floor at check in.
We also noticed the staff cleaning the room next to ours were making lots of noises and were disruptive. When we asked them to lower their voices, we were met with sarcasim and mockery.
We asked to check out on the same day we checked in, they were kind enough to give the full refund however the attitude showed that the complaints we made were normal and the complaints were not addressed. The found a similar complaint to ours from 2019, the manager responded and said they will be addressed which clearly had not happened.

Beautiful hotel, great location and lovely staff. A lovely authentic olde-worldly feel and although there are parts looking a little tired, incredible value for what you get!

The design and services of the hotel are very unique. Everything from the food to the environment is very nice. However, there may be a little problem in local transportation from the location of the hotel to the more popular market for normal shopping.

Stayed here is 2018 and was a really nice hotel back then, however now it’s a really tattered, tired and run down hotel. For the price I’d highly recommend you look elsewhere. The room was dirty, shower had thick dirty silicon around the glass, toilet leaked, floor was cheap vinyl that was coming apart. There are rooms for 800b much better than this place. For the condition of the rooms, it’s way overpriced. This hotel is not 5 star. If you want a nice hotel, go a few mins down the road to The Landcaster Hotel. We stayed there before flying out of Bkk, kills Metropole.

This is a classy hotel, what a 5* hotel should be. Most of the interior is wood-made, giving it a classy impression. It's located in a part of town that is not easily reached by public transportation, except the it's right next to the Thong Lor pier, and travel by water taxi is just great, no traffic jam! The room is of average size, with stucco on the ceiling. It has a kitchenette with a washer and a microwave. There's no desk, though. My room has a bathtub 2/3 of the full-size bathtub. Strangely, it has a design that easily lets water leak to the floor. It's interesting that it has touch screen switch controls for light and AC. not particularly big,
The biggest issue for me was the noise from a nightclub nearby. It literally went on until 6am. The calm returned from then on, and everything was great. Despite my 4* rating, I won't come back until the noise issue is resolved.

I stayed here Feb 14 - 18, 2023. This was once a cool, hip hotel but it's in a serious state of disrepair. Starting with the good: staff were great and the check-in process was effecient. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. That being said, I did notice that the hotel was a bit understaffed, which, to be fair, is an issue happening worldwide in the hospitality industry. My room was on the 4th floor, which is the top floor. This was by far the noisiest hotel experience I've had in a long, long time. I didn't expect this much noise at this price point. It's VERY loud. Four nights of trying to relax and sleep with the heavy streetnoise was unbearable (and I use earplugs and a sleep app on my phone). When I entered my room, I noticed that I had no towels of any kind...and no hand/body soap. The floors in my room were also a bit dirty. The bed linens had multiple stains. The room looked old and worn with previous evidence of water damage on walls and ceiling. The very small shower/tub combo was very unusual and not a great set up and a little awkward to use. The room smelled a bit musty. The hallways also smelled a little damp and moldy. Lots of problems with mosquitoes in my room, too. On the 3rd day of my stay, Bangkok experienced heavy rain. I woke up to find the elevator foyer on the 4th floor with quite a bit of water. There were several buckets collecting water and several ceiling panels removed. The floors were very slippery. My guess is that this is a very common occurrence at the Metropole. Amenities: My reservation included the daily breakfast buffet - the breakfast was fine although quite limited. Not a lot of hot options, unfortunately. The pool is narrow and not very deep. I used it several time and never saw another person in the pool area. The water was a little murky and not as clear I would have liked. What was supposed to be hot/jacuzzi tub in the men's spa area was broken during my stay. The spa showers were nice but soap/shampoo containers were always empty. Location: This hotel is NOT within walking distance of the BTS or MRT. You're at the far end of Soi Thong Lor and need to walk 15 - 20 minutes to the nearest BTS station. You will need a taxi of some kind to get you around. However, there is a water taxi stop just behind the hotel which is a fun, cheap, and convenient way to get around but the water taxi service ends at 7pm. I DO NOT recommend this hotel to other travelers. During my 6 week stay in Asia, this was the only hotel that I was wholeheartedly dissatisfied with. There are better options at this price point...or just spend another $20 - 30/per night and stay at one of the major chain hotels. Good luck!

Definitely not a 5star hotel. 2star at max. Rooms are dirty. Hotel is quite old. No towels in the rooms. Asked 2 times, wait 10minutes and they bring me very old pool towel. Sewer smell in the shower. I'm surprised such low level of service.

This hotel needs serious maintenance.
- The safe wasn't working
- There were no towels when I checked in and it took 3 hours for the service to bring me towels.
- The mini-fridge wasn't working
Rooms are very small but they have a washing machine and a stove.

The hotel staff was cool but the restaurant some staff at night can be not cool. They try to be helpful but they are also pushy, and they act like they can tell you what to do. I didn't sign the check right away because I was busy with something and told them I will do it. She tried to force me to sign it right away and then she told security I didn't sign and tried to make him come over to get me to sign. He tried to be more cool but it's crazy. Other than that the place is great. The morning staff in the restaurant is very polite. The rooms come with a surround sound Bluetooth which is very cool. The beds are soft and the design of the hotel is unique. I would definitely come back but charging for ice is crazy.
