Those Bangkok nightlife prices are deliberately broad. The city can still serve a 100 THB beer and a 600 THB hotel cocktail on the same evening. The useful question is not “Is Bangkok nightlife cheap?” but “What kind of night are you planning?”

The short answer

These amounts cover drinks and leave some room for transport. They do not cover accommodation, a full dinner, bottle service or a VIP table. Event nights and hotel bars can also move beyond them quickly.

What drinks cost in Bangkok

A local beer is usually the cheapest way to start. Published Bangkok price guides put ordinary local beer around 60–120 THB, with drinks in busy Khao San venues often landing between 80 and 200 THB. Imported beer commonly costs 120–220 THB.

Cocktails have a much wider spread. A straightforward cocktail at a casual bar may cost 150–250 THB. Around Thonglor, Ekkamai and other polished bar areas, 250–400 THB is a more useful expectation. Hotel rooftops commonly move that figure to 350–650 THB.

Serving size matters. A small bottle and a pint should not be compared as though they were the same order. The same goes for a house pour and a premium spirit.

The expensive end can be startling. One 2026 guide listed cocktails at Octave around 400–450 THB, with no entry fee at the time covered. The same guide put Sky Bar’s Hangovertini at roughly 1,500 THB and a non-alcoholic drink near 900 THB. That does not make four-figure cocktails normal in Bangkok; it shows why checking the actual menu matters at famous hotel bars.

For an ordinary rooftop visit, two drinks can easily come to 900–1,300 THB before the ride there and back. If the venue adds service and tax to its printed prices, the final total will be higher.

Club entry is only half the question

At many mainstream Bangkok clubs, standard entry falls around 300–600 THB. One or two drinks may be included. Premium venues, weekends and special DJ nights can push admission to 500–1,000 THB.

The number at the door is not enough to compare two clubs. A 500 THB ticket that includes two drinks may work out better than 300 THB entry followed by two 250 THB drinks inside. Ask what the cover includes before paying, especially when a promoter or event page uses the words “free drink” without saying which drinks qualify.

RCA entry is often quoted around 200–400 THB, while drinks inside Bangkok clubs commonly cost 200–350 THB. A lower cover does not automatically mean a cheaper night if the area requires a longer ride or the group orders several rounds.

Table prices belong in a different conversation. A modest table minimum may start around 3,000–8,000 THB, while premium tables can begin at 15,000 THB and rise sharply for major events. The minimum is often credit toward bottles and mixers, but policies vary. Confirm the amount, what it buys, how many guests it admits and whether tax is added before placing a deposit.

What 900, 1,500 and 3,500 THB can look like

With 900 THB, the easiest plan is to stay in one area. Three 120 THB beers, a 200 THB late meal and a 250 THB ride come to 810 THB. There is not much room for an unplanned club cover, but the night does not have to feel austere.

At roughly 1,500 THB, cocktails become realistic. Three drinks at 300 THB, food at 200 THB and transport at 300 THB leave a small cushion. This amount works well for a social evening in Sukhumvit, Silom, Thonglor or Ekkamai when the group is not changing venues repeatedly.

A 3,500 THB plan can fit a rooftop and a club: two 450 THB rooftop drinks, a 500 THB club cover, two 250 THB drinks inside, 300 THB for food and 500 THB for transport total 2,700 THB. The remaining 800 THB is useful insurance against a pricier menu, tax, rain-surge fares or one more round.

This arithmetic is more reliable than a citywide “average night out.” Change the number of drinks or add a second paid entry and the bill changes immediately.

The small costs that change the whole night

Transport is easy to underestimate because it rarely appears in venue guides. A late ride across central Bangkok might be manageable on a quiet night, then cost noticeably more when rain, traffic or demand rises. Groups that cross town twice can spend more getting between bars than they paid at the first one.

Food deserves its own line too. A simple late meal may add 100–250 THB per person. That is not a large expense by itself, but it matters when the original plan was only 700 or 800 THB.

Then there is the extra round. One 300 THB cocktail feels harmless. Three cost 900 THB; four cost 1,200 THB. Setting a drink count before choosing venues is a surprisingly effective way to keep the night within budget.

Finally, read the bottom of the menu. Some premium venues add 10% service charge and 7% VAT rather than including them in the displayed price. Do not assume every venue calculates tax in exactly the same way; ask for the final amount if the wording is unclear.

Where to go for your budget

Khao San Road is the obvious place to look for a lower-cost, casual night. Its reputation does not make every bar cheap, though. Brightly promoted mixed drinks, larger serves and tourist-focused venues can sit well above the lowest beer prices.

Thonglor and Ekkamai suit people who would rather have two or three good cocktails than chase the cheapest round. Using 250–400 THB per cocktail makes a more realistic plan here than using local-beer prices.
